Activities and Involvement
Courtyards and patios glow with sunlight.
A homelike atmosphere fills the buildings
and grounds, while the faces of our residents
and
friends light up with another active
day. Recreational trips, crafts, parties, dancing
or activities
are planned to emphasize individuals
receiving pleasure and satisfaction in their own
accomplishments,
at their own pace.
Our activity directors are specially
trained to understand the fragile limits
of age. All residents are encouraged
to be as active as possible through
our activities programs designed to
meet their special needs.
In addition to a diverse calendar of
activities, traditional religious services
are held for all faiths. Providing the
opportunity for spiritual growth and
development is very important. Local
visiting ministries offer many enjoyable
devotional programs.
We keep our residents involved in community
service, so each person knows their
contributions matter. Activities may
include collecting food for an open-door
pantry or just registering to vote at
the next election. Through our Resident
Council, which develops recommendations
on all policies, our residents have
a voice in the issues that affect their
lives.
We encourage residents to be involved
in their surroundings by reading to
others, watering plants, delivering
mail or escorting another resident.
This activity supports interaction and
independence while encouraging new friendships.
Companionship is a vital need for everyone.
For those unable to function independently,
in-room activities and sensory stimulation
bring their world to life. The senses
of touch, sight, smell and hearing may
be aroused through activities designed
to keep the mind active. Improving the
quality of life is important for all
our residents.
